If my ex-husband is telling my daughter lies about why he can't come to see her, should I tell her the truth?

It's because his license was suspended for not paying child support. I have been driving her to and from his house each visit (for a total of 4 hours total driving time, aarrgh!). He told her that he couldn't find his drivers license and so couldn't come to see her unless I could pick her up and drop her off. I have been doing that very thing for several months now but am about to tell him that he needs to find a way to do his share. Either by having a friend drive him or by taking the bus, which is what he does to get to work. If he refuses then I look like the bad guy (as usual), but I resent having to pay for his negligence, literally, since gas is sooooo expensive. Help!
